It seems that costume designers are the new inspiration for Couture collections! Stieg Larsson’s best seller “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” inspired designer Nicola Formichetti to create a collection featuring modern, body-conscious looks with sharp shoulders and asymmetrical hems.
While Michelle Williams, who portrays Marilyn Monroe in “My Week With Marilyn,” could have been the bombshell had she been wearing any of the pieces from designer Raf Simon’s collection for Jil Sander.
Even “The Artist” costume designer Mark Bridges, who was also nominated for an Oscar, admits that he was surprised by the film’s contemporary appeal among fashion lovers. He admits to having shortened the hems a bit to make them more current and easier to dance in…but the models from Gucci’s couture show could have easily strolled right into the set of movie and blended in seamlessly.
So… what does this all mean to all you fashionistas? This is your year to express yourself…YOU get to take pick the look you like…and go with it, there just happens to be a movie icon sporting a look that is “cutting edge” modern, vintage, bombshell….right here..,right now…. 🙂
